Algerian-Tunisian Monitoring Committee shows will to step up bilateral relations
TUNIS (Tunisia)- The 18th session of the Algerian-Tunisian Monitoring Committee shows the will of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and his Tunisian counterpart, Beji Caid Essebsi, to raise bilateral relations to the highest level, Minister of Maghreb Affairs, African Union and Arab League Abdelkader Messahel said Thursday in Tunis.

The session comes as part of preparations for the high joint commission meeting in Algiers on October 25-26, under the co-chairmanship of Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and the chief of Tunisian government, Habib Essid, Messahel said.
The minister said he was pleased with the mobilization of joint resources to face security challenges relating to the escalation of terrorism, organized crime, arms dealing and illegal immigration.
Those scourges "target our region's stability and require a unified approach to define the appropriate ways to face the challenges."

Messahel greeted the "considerable" achievements of the bilateral counterterrorism cooperation.
