It has been revealed that a former governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa is planning to defect to the APC in a bid to evade prosecution.

There are strong indications that former governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa, may soon join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to avoid looming prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the arms deal scandal and monies allegedly disbursed to him during the 2015 general elections, LeadershipNG reports.
According to the report, sources close to Udenwa revealed that he may declare for the APC any moment from now ostensibly to wade off possible EFCC arrest for the alleged money traced to him from the office of the former national security adviser.
The report went further to reveal that a meeting between Udenwa and some of his aides was held last week in Amaifike to conclude arrangement for his defection to the APC, even as it was also gathered that high level contact between the former governor and APC chieftains from Imo State is ongoing in to smoothen the expected declaration.
It would be recalled that the EFCC recently announced that almost a billlion naira was traced to Udenwa and others. The money was given to them by the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, to use in the prosecution of the 2015 general elections.
